How To Use A Gallery Wall Builder To Help Find The Perfect Art For Your Home

Whether you’re moving into a new place or your current home could use an interior refresh, wall art can go a long way toward creating a space you love. Carefully selected art can bring all of the elements of a room together, giving your space cohesion and visual interest.

But choosing the right wall art can be a real challenge. There are plenty of places to buy wall art online, of course, but what do you do when your artworks don’t look good on your walls? The wrong size, shape, colors, or even art technique (e.g., photography versus impressionist painting) can create the sense that something in the room is “off.”

Fortunately, VSUAL has a tool called the Gallery Wall Builder which lets you “try out” fine art on your walls without the disappointment and hassles of returning artworks you don’t like. You can see how artworks look in your unique interior space, making it easy to choose the perfect artworks for your home.

The builder is simple to use - no tech skills required. Simply go to the VSUAL Gallery Wall Builder page, login or create a free account, and click the “Create Your Own” button to get started.

If you don’t have any saved galleries, you’ll be taken right to the builder dashboard. If you have galleries saved, you can edit them or create a new one from scratch.

Now, you can upload an image of your wall as a background to try out different artworks. You can also choose one of the Presets if you don’t have a picture of your space available. The slider above the “add a print” button lets you adjust the wall length to ensure artworks are displayed with the correct proportions.

Uploading a quality image is critical - a blurry or poorly-taken image won’t give you an accurate representation of what your artworks will look like hanging on your walls.

Here are some tips for creating high-quality galleries:

  • Make sure the area is well-lit. Natural sunlight works best, so be sure to pull back the curtains and raise the blinds. Try to avoid taking pictures at night, when shadows can heavily distort colors.

  • Remove any foreground objects from the frame, so that they don’t interfere with your ability to evaluate artworks for your space.

  • If there is existing art on the same or an adjacent wall, include it in the image so you can see how it will work with your new artworks.

Once you’ve uploaded an image of your wall, click on the “Add a Print” button to access the vast library of photographs, painting, illustration, and other fine art prints you can “try out” in your space.

VSUAL’s filters let you narrow down your search by technique, dominant color, shape, orientation, and descriptive tags to find just the right artworks for you. Click on any artwork in your results to see it on your wall.

By clicking on artworks, you can drag them around until you’ve found the ideal spot. You can also choose size, matting, and frame, and see these items update in real-time in your gallery.

You can even upload multiple artworks to go on the same wall.
